Lenten Reflections- The Stations of the Cross: The 14th Station

The Fourteenth Station
Jesus is laid in the tomb

Laid in the tomb, wrapped in the shroud, the last goodbyes said, the stone rolled in place.
How cold and silent the tomb! How cold our hearts without the living God!
We know that the tomb, for Jesus, was only temporary, that it did not hold Him long. We know that death is part of the work of salvation God planned for Jesus, for our sake. We see that our Savior died, and we know that He rose again. This is our great hope, that the sadness and pain of death will not be the final step in our journey. Jesus showed us the Way. Yes, it is the Way of the Cross. And the reward is great, if we but follow.
