On this anniversary of 9/11, when everyone is remembering the terrible tragedy of that day, I look at what is happening in the world and think that the world is full of just as tragic happenings- like what is going on in the middle east with the persecution of Christians by Muslims. Priests beheaded, Christians slaughtered, yet there is nowhere near the outcry that there should be. It's as if everyone is intimidated by Muslims. They kill and call it their religious right. The world does not vilify them for that. Yet if we as Catholics refuse to support abortion or homosexuality, as is our religious right, we are vilified, and refused civil rights- look at what is going on in San Antonio Texas.
I am sickened by what has become normal in this world.
Jesus taught that the world would hate us, and so it does.
But He also taught that we should rejoice and be glad, for great would be our reward in Heaven.
And that is the difference between Christianity and Islam. They murder for their reward. We are called to die for our faith, not to kill for it.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
