FRIDAY, JULY 23, 2010 9:30 AM, CDT
Yesterday the nurse visited and said that Sammy had entered into the last phase called "actively dying". She said he had a few hours to a day or two. Sammy has not died yet but he is very close. He stopped taking milk yesterday and is almost completely unresponsive. Every breath he takes could be his last. I am typing this from his bedside. Our good priest, Monsignor Blacet, is coming out this afternoon. We are very much hoping Sammy will make it until then. As my sister says, Sammy's guardian angel has his wings wrapped around him now waiting to carry him gently home. Thank you so much to all who are praying.

with his condition when she is able.
His condition continues to worsen. Kathlene, his mother, noticed on the liturgical calendar that the feast of St. Ignatius is on July 31. Fr. Hardon was a Jesuit, so the family has asked for a particular novena to start tomorrow (though you may be praying a continuous one already) and end on the 31st.
Again, thank you for your prayers. I know that the parents are being helped very much by them.
The prayer is in the post below.

Sammy's parents and extended family are very grateful for the prayers which are being offered for him literally around the world.
Almighty God, You gave Your servant, Father John Anthony Hardon of the Society of Jesus, the grace of consecration as a religious dedicated to the apostolate, and the grace of consecration as an ordained priest, after the Heart of Your Divine Son, our Good Shepherd.
Through Father Hardon, You provided for your Flock an extraordinary teacher of the faith.
You entrusted Father Hardon into the loving care of the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose counsel "Do whatever he tells you" (Jn 2:5) he faithfully followed and whose intercession he unceasingly invoked.
If it be Your holy will, please grant the request I now make ...
[the complete cure and return to health of Samuel Joseph Abraham]
... calling upon the help of Father Hardon, so that his heroic sanctity may be recognized in the whole Church.
I ask this through Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, Who with You and the Holy Spirit, is one God forever and ever. Amen.

One of my greatest treasures is my mother's Missal, and in it I found this exhortation.
